Baldness in women is slightly different from men and the supply of donor hairs are comparatively smaller in women, Women Lose their Hair because of their hormonal changes like Dieting, stress, Anxiety, Depression  even exercise are all among the factors that can create a hormonal tailspin. So there are plenty of opportunities for things to go awry. Sometimes, even the smallest changes can make a huge difference. But for Men, Hair loss and Baldness are mostly caused by Age and DNA. The advancement of medicine and technology has saved people suffering from hair loss to fix their problem and any of the associated stress. Hair transplantation works effectively in treating both male and female pattern baldness.

How long do hair transplants take?

It depends on the size of the transplant you’re getting; the surgery might last two to Seven hours during which approximately 250 grafts to 1,000 grafts will be transplanted. The number and type of graft you get depends on your hair type, quality, color, and the size of the area where you’re getting the transplant.  If you do not have enough hair, you cannot have a normal hair transplant surgery. Instead, there are other surgeries used in conjunction with a hair transplant to achieve similar results.

How is a hair transplant done?

You usually have the procedure in the doctor’s office. The patient’s scalp laxity is an important determinant of how much hair is available for a hair transplant. During this procedure, the patient might be completely awake. Surgeon will shave the back of the scalp, injecting and cleaning the scalp with anesthetic drug. Then the doctor will remove hair follicles from there, You will suffer from almost no pain during the treatment or after its completion, which then the Surgeon will place the graft with needle on those bald spot, hair are plucked from the donor site and transplanted on the recipient site. Remember Hair transplantation does not involve someone else hair. You should possess healthy hair follicles to get the desired result

What should you expect after a hair transplant?

Your scalp now looks tender after surgery. With Surgeon’s prescription on pain medication either an antibiotic or an anti-inflammatory drug for you to take for several days and hair-growing drug minoxidil (Rogaine) to improve hair growth. You will need several days of rest after a hair transplant surgery, so plan accordingly. Patients cannot jump right back into their regular activities. Two to three weeks after surgery, the transplanted hair will fall out, but you should start to notice new growth (about 0.25–0.5 in (6–13 mm) per month.).

What are the risks of getting hair transplants?

scarring

First consider if you really need them – some men look good with a shaved head, and hair doesn’t define a man! If you must have hair, the good news is that there aren’t too many side effects. As Any other Surgery, there are many Risks attached to it. Hair transplantation can’t be over looked. The grafted area might not look the way the patient expected it to look. And they might experience some rare cases of infection like folliculitis or scarring, swelling, bruising,

headache

headache, and discomfort around the graft areas. And sometimes, we now lose the original hair from the spot you got the new strands. , but these side effects usually go away pretty quickly, and hair transplants are permanent. On the other hand, hair transplants are costly, time consuming (you may not get it done all in one session), and you may be playing a cat and mouse game if your bald spot continues to spread!
Also, you might not like how you end up looking.

Old peopleIt is better to have a hair transplant when you are young. Do you know why they should avoid hair transplantation though without scientific prove but based on reality. What really keep Hair transplantation successful, is the ability of the new hair to match with the existing hair but when age has become the case here, the new hair will hardly suit the quality of the old hair, thereby making caricature of the whole surgery.

The surgeon –The surgeon determines the outcome of your surgery, with his/her skill will determine the nature of your new hair. His experience determines your hair plausible artistic look because the surgeon will transplant the grafts in those sites that may be pragmatic to hair growth.

Washing the hair after the surgery has a lot of effect on its growth; you should actually keep the treated area clean so that it does not get infected.

Avoid taking of medication except recommended drugs from the surgeon.

This hair transplant idea is, well, for me is really unbelievable. I can understand that especially for women it must be very difficult sometimes to deal with getting bald. Do you know if people are asleep during the surgeries? I freak out from any surgery, so for me it would be the very last thing to try 🙂 Especially after reading about possible side effects and getting scars. Sure, it is very important to check if the doctor is very good in it and has experience.

To be honest, I was afraid and was thinking that Hair Transplantation will cause damage to brain, thanks for throwing light on the subject and your post gave me new insights which is very helpful.

In today’s world hair loss is a major problem and a big challenge for many including me. Trying different hair oils nothing seems to give the expected results.

The video is awesome and gave detail and in-depth information. After watching the video I now understand nothing to fear about Hair Transplantation as the doctor says its just like going to a dentist.

Thanks a lot for sharing about the good and the bad.

      Hair
transplants are typically more successful than over-the-counter hair
restoration products. But there are some factors to consider:

Anywhere from 10 to 80 percent of transplanted hair will fully grow back in about three to four months.
Like regular hair, transplanted hair will thin over time.
      People
with dormant hair follicles (sacs that usually contain hair beneath the
skin but no longer grow hair) may have less-effective transplants, but a
2016 study suggests that plasma therapy can help up 75 percent or more of the transplanted hairs fully grow back.

      Hair
transplants don’t work for everyone. They’re mainly used to restore
hair if you’re balding or thinning naturally or have lost hair due to an
      injury.

I’m really happy that my post is helpful. thanks very much too for commenting.

Wow, some of the before and after pictures that you have included are truly amazing. I didn’t realize that there were surgical procedures for treating hair loss. Now I understand that hair transplants remove hair from healthy follicles and graft them onto areas that are thin or bald.

I am very happy to know that this is not a painful process because usually, any kind of medical pain scares me quite a lot. Fortunately, I have not dealt with any baldness in my life personally but now, If I ever need to, I know where to turn for help and more information.

    1. admin says:

The success rate of hair transplants is very high, as high as 98 percent, when the procedure is performed properly, No pains. Find out how the transplant process works with tips from a successful board-certified cosmetic surgeon in this free video on hair transplant surgery.

  6. Amanda says:

This is great information and a lot I was not aware of, you said that the transplants are permanent but then 2-3 weeks after they fall out?

I have female pattern baldness due to many factors and none of which I have a permanent solution to, I’m not sure what my outcome will be but I’m glad to hear that this may be a temporary solution.

How long is your recovery from this procedure and does the transplant damage the natural hair follicles you have already?

    1. admin says:

      Hi Amanda.

The transplanted  hairs will shed over time, but new hair  will grow in its place from the
transplanted  follicles. On average, patients can expect to see about 60% new hair  growth within 6-9 months in the affected area. Hair transplant can be a permanent  solution to your hair  loss problem.

Thank fully I have thick hair thanks to my father. However, that could always change! Whether due to illness or age, I could very well face the aspect of balding. Thank you for sharing more info on this option. I know many will benefit from the information in this article. I am impressed with some of the results. Personally, though, I think I would prefer the wig route! lol No risk of infection or post surgery issues, more variety and cheaper!

    1. admin says:

The most obvious benefit of having strong hair is the fact that you do not have to worry about hair loss or hair fall. Your hair strands are more flexible and can resist pressure than weak hair can. So, Hair Transplant is not meant for you!..smiles

A hair transplant could be desirable for some people particularly men who may suffer from a lack of confidence because they have thinning hair. Some are very conscious of a bald patch but others don’t let it bother them. The procedure seems pretty straightforward and most important there doesn’t seem to  be too much pain involved. Its interesting that the main causes are ageing and your DNA it must be really hard for a woman to have thinning hair or a bald patch as females are more sensitive to these things. You didn’t mention what kind of costs are involved, does health insurance cover a hair transplant?

    1. admin says:

      Think about the cost.
The cost of a hair transplant is highly variable and typically ranges anywhere from $4,000 to $15,000.
Most Hair restoration surgery is not covered by health insurance
Cosmetic surgery does not usually qualify for rebates any public or private health insurance companies. If the hair loss was caused by burns or trauma, however, hair replacement surgery is considered a reconstructive treatment and may be covered by health insurance.
